Angekommen in LA, gelandet in West Hollywood - so sah der erste Tag in den USA aus. Ins Hostel sind wir mehr oder weniger über das Prinzip Zufall: Angesprochen worden am Flughafen, andere Unterkunftsmöglichkeiten ausgecheckt und dann doch ins erste Hostel. Die Location: typisch Hostel, aber zu Fünft kriegt man dann doch fast sowas wie Privatspähre.
Nach einem ausgiebigen Abendessen beim ersten (von vielen weiteren) zu erforschenden neuen Fast-Food-Ketten: Jack in the Box. Die erste Ernüchterung auf vollen Magen gab es beim ersten Weggehen am Abend. Da zu dem Zeitpunkt nur zwei von uns (Chris und ich) ueber 21 waren, war's erstmal nichts mit Clubbing. Die Bar unserer Wahl war dann eine Art Karaoke-Location mit Bullriding in der Mitte. Wie stellt man sich das Partyleben in LA so vor? Partys bis zum Abwinken und vor allem die ganze Nacht lang. Hier kommt auch schon die nächste Ernüchterung ins Spiel. Um Viertel vor zwei gingen in der Bar die Lichter an und die Gaeste wurden freundlichst zum Ausgang komplimentiert: Sperrstunde Kalifornienweit um zwei - jeden Tag inklusive Wochenende und Liquorstores. Im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes ernüchternd....
Die nächsten zwei Tage war dann Sightseeing angesagt: Der Walk of Fame, inklusive Nähe zu einem Filmset, von der Ferne die Huegel von Hollywood erspaeht, Downtown begutachtet, Spidertramp (einen als Spiderman verkleideten Alkoholiker) gesichtet etc....
Abends Amerikanerinnen kennengelernt und bei denen weiter gefeiert und einen Tag später an Connys 21. Geburtstag bei so einem richtigen Bonzen in Beverly Hills bis morgens früh um 7 abgehangen
Nach der Nacht kam dann die unglaubliche Ernüchterung Nummer zwei. als wir so um 11h ins Hostel eingelaufen sind wurde uns mitgeteilt, dass wir leider nicht länger bleiben können, weil ausgebucht.
Kein Problem ab nach Venice Beach und dort ins Hostel. Venice Beach, der Strand der Schönen und Reichen war echt entspannt. Die nächste Aufgabe war da schon komplizierter: Mietwagen finden, in dem fünf Leute samt Weltreiseausstattung reinpassen mit folgenden Problemchen:
1. Chris ist 29, hat keinen Führerschein (billig mieten ist ab 25)
2. Ich hab keine Kreditkarte
3. Alle anderen waren unter 21 (was die Sache richtig teuer macht)
4. Man kann seine Kreditkarte nur auf sich als Mieter anwenden...
Nach zwei verschiedenen Firmen und ungefaehr dreistündigem Aushandeln hatten wir unseren richtig dicken SUV mit Platz fuer alles was das Herz begehrt. Und ab gings: erste Station Las Vegas.
Die Fahrt dahin traumhaft mit der Landschaft, erstes Kasino direkt hinter der Staatengrenze und The Fabulous. Glitzerwelt und Traum in einem. Unterkunft war der erste Trick: Ein Zimmer gemietet, alle dort einquartiert und dann ab auf den Strip in die Kasinos und so weiter.
Meine Verluste haben sich in Grenzen gehalten und Spass hat's auf jeden Fall gemacht. Viva Las Vegas!!!!
